Mataam Fez - Colfax Ave

We'd never done the traditional Moroccan dining experience (on the floor around a low table with no utensils) and this seemed like the place to give it a try. The atmosphere is authentic, the food isn't great but is good (try the cornish game hen with peaches) and you're guaranteed to see a show from a belly dancer or two. Expect a traditional Moroccan meal where specific items (a lentil soup, array of salads, etc) are brought to you in a specific order and you only choose your main dish. Everything is eaten with your hands (after an at the table hand cleansing) and a large towel is tossed over your shoulder to handle the mess. New to us and fun. Our biggest hang up?? That place needs a deep freaking cleaning before we'll be back. It's clear the carpet and pillows you lounge on haven't been washed in ages and the belly dancers dirty feet solidify that assumption. Yikes.
