Chop Shop - Colfax & Elm

This is one delicious little spot with some seriously good meat. Chop Shop is a small restaurant with the perfect, cozy atmosphere that passes all marks with flying colors. The 48hr Short Ribs were indeed slow cooked to perfection and the Parmesan Fries perfectly seasoned. Their Smoked Chicken Pastrami was the perfect twist on the usually boring chicken sandwich (the slaw is amazing) and the Sesame Green Beans were so good we brought home an extra order. The service was perfection. We can't wait to go back and try some more! BONUS: They have a great cocktail selection all day.

Colt & Gray - LoDo

We're surprised to have a mixed review for the popular Denver spot Colt & Gray. The service was sub par at best (took forever for the server to greet and for our food to arrive despite an empty restaurant) and the bathrooms were down right scary (filthy sink, smelly and some sort of water pipes issue?) and our apps (Crispy Pig Trotter & Sweet Corn Fritters) were totally under seasoned. HOWEVER,  the cocktails were perfect ( I had a dirty martini and husband a Leopold Old Fashioned, so good) and the Grilled Quail and Duck Confit Salad were delicious. Not sure we'll be back with so many down sides? Disappointed overall.

Habit Carbon - Platte St

Doughnut sandwiches by candle light with a cocktail anyone? We freaking love Habit Carbon. Their sandwiches were top notch (try the Lil' Kim and The King, the Sriracha honey dipping sauce is beyond) and the large batch cocktails were mixed to perfection (I loved the Ginger Hibiscus Mule and husband the Cold Brew Manhattan). The Tricky & Sticky Fritter can't be beat. The atmosphere was lively and dimly lit, our fave. We can't wait to bring our friends to check it out late night. BONUS: Everything on the menu includes tax in its price.

Glacier Denver - S University & Lowry Town Center

A new location just opened near us in Lowry and holy cow this ice cream spot is AMAZING. They have outstanding gelato (try the lemon) and their ice cream flavors are creative and fabulous (Funky Donkey is our new fave). The staff is warm and friendly and their service has been flawless every time we've been in. Hands down one of the top 3 frozen treat spots to hit in Denver when you need a dessert fix.

Locanda Del Borgo - 3rd & Holly

In the mood for Italian?? Locanda won't let you down. We had a wonderful evening of perfect service, extensive wine selections and delicious food. The Straccetti was new to us and amazing and it paired perfectly with the Butter Lettuce salad to start us off. I'm a sucker for Branzino and it was everything I hoped it would be. Husband practically licked his plate clean after trying the Short Rib Ravioli. They checked every hospitality box down to a table visit by the Manager without ever being intrusive or hovering. Relaxed perfection! BONUS: They called us when we forgot our to-go dessert on the table.

La Merise - Cherry Creek

This was our first dinner here (I've met friends for lunch and always loved the food) and it was fantastic. The atmosphere feels like eating at a neighbors house that can cook really well, relaxed and sophisticated. Their mussels and escargot are divine and the Boeuf Bourguignon knocked my socks off. It would hands down rival Julia Child's best Boeuf. Husband couldn't get enough of the Pork Medallions and has demanded that I learn to make a comparable mushroom cream sauce ASAP. BONUS: They shake up a perfect martini.

Four Friends Kitchen - Stapleton

This is one sweet, southern spot. We'll try any restaurant that has fried green tomatoes on their menu and this one is a hit. The Pepper Jelly Grilled Brussels were an amazing twist on the same old sprouts and the Cheese & Chorizo Beignets were perfectly fried. Choosing entrees was almost torturous because everything sounded so delicious. The Peanut Crusted Southern Fried Chicken Waffle Sandwich and the Down South Trio (Green Chili Mac & Chz, collard greens & Peanut Crusted Chicken Tenders) didn't disappoint. Everything was seasoned to perfection. All that awesomeness combined with their super quick service makes this a perfect breakfast, brunch or lunch destination. Be still my GA heart.

Solitaire - W 32nd/Highlands

This new restaurant is charming as hell and the food was absolutely delicious. This is the place to be this spring and summer. Their outdoor seating is just lovely with endless options (shaded, sunny, upstairs, downstairs, out back, on the side - awesome!). Their rotating beer list is going to get us back in sooner than later for some outdoor dining. The Misticanza & Antipasti Board were perfection only to then be out done by the CO Lamb T-Bone and Acadia Redfish. Husband swooned for their extensive Gin & Tonic list while I fell for the Hot Piece of Ass cocktail (not kidding). We left with a gift card (gotta gift a dinner here to someone we love STAT, it's that good) and plans to return for dinner soon not to mention full resolution that this will be our next dinner party spot. No question.

Cho77 - S Broadway

This spot was opened by the same amazing chef that owns one of our faves, ChoLon (LoDo). We were lucky enough to receive an invitation to a private tasting a week after they opened their doors and I am so glad we did. It gave us the chance to try many of the items on the menu and damn they were delicious. So damn delicious that we decided to stay for dinner afterwards. From the Scallop Ceviche to the Vegetable Samosas and a Tropical Fruit Plate with sriracha dipping salt we were in Asian street food heaven. I adored the Roti Pizza, husband ate every bite of the Wonton noodles & Pork Belly and neither one of us could get enough of the Hanoi Night Train cocktail. The decor with its many authentic and thoughtful touches will charm your socks off. This restaurant is not to be missed. Hurry up, your Buffalo Chicken Buns are waiting.

Punch Bowl Social - Broadway

I think we've officially found our new favorite hang out. Who can possibly pass up really great food, a giant 360 degree bar, bowling, vintage arcade games, ping pong and karaoke under one roof? Not us! That's not even the full list of things to do at PBS and we had a blast. Husband tried karaoke for the first time ever (move over Cameron Diaz, there's a new tone deaf sherrif in town) and kicked my ass at a few arcade games then we destroyed their apps menu (the spicy cilantro wings and deviled eggs are awesome) and fell in love with their punch (Paper Tiger is my fave). We will definitely commit to dinner next time because awesome apps clearly indicates awesome dinner. I've got shuffle board on the brain and can't wait to get back in to play. Going to round up some friends to bring back with us! BONUS: They're opening a Stapleton location next year.

Date Night IN - Denver

We've been known to hire a sitter even when one/both of us is sick and we can't go out. We lock ourselves in our room with delivery or take-out and a movie and have never regretted it a single time. If you're sick, the sitter cancelled or you just can't get out the door, don't skip date night! Here are some ideas..

- Game Night:

board games & gaming systems are totally underrated especially if you add good food & cocktails.

- Picnic in the backyard:

Easy, awesome, romantic. (especially if you have an outdoor projector for movies)
http://www.amazon.com/Taotaole-Multi-media-Portable-Projection-Projector/dp/B00PNGM8UQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426721585&sr=8-1&keywords=Taotaole+Multi-media+150+Lumens+Portable+LED+Projection+Micro+Projector
Make your backyard picnic even better with a Coolest Cooler! It's seriously the freaking coolest.
http://coolest.com

- Delivery* + candles + that movie you never got to see at the theater:

The best.

- Make some art (wink wink):
http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/love-is-art-kit

- Last minute bottle of wine in the front/side/back yard alone or with the neighbors:
Trust us, it counts.

- Pizza, wine & Nerf guns:
Enough said.

Bubu - Larimer/Lowry

A new BuBu just opened in our neighborhood (they have a Larimer location as well) and it is delicious. A great concept for eating fresh and never boring. Pick your base (rice, salad, noodles) then a protein and top everything with one of their signature Bowl choices. The Hawaiian Bowl was amazing and their miso soup is delicious with lots of unexpected additions in the broth (shitake shrooms, edamame, quinoa, etc). This is a great casual spot for a lunch or dinner date.

ACME Burgers & Brats - Union Station

We had the enormous pleasure of starting our date weekend with awesome Old Fashioned burgers, fries and a brat w/ kraut at ACME followed by a walk around the station to check everything out during the day (we've only been there at night). The burgers were perfect (love their sauce), the fries were amazing (you gotta try them tossed in malt seasoning) and you can't beat the station atmosphere. We will absolutely be back sooner than later. So good. BONUS: they have a Boylan's soda fountain YUM.

Lower48 Kitchen - Lawrence St

Our favorite part about L48 is their menu changes daily. You'll never have the same thing twice at this place if you don't want to and that is awesome. Their dishes are close to flawless, the Ulysses cocktail is delicious and they have a great by the bottle wine selection. They have an array of $2 and $4 bites making it easy to try a variety before your main meal (we love the hoe cake & corn dog). BONUS: they have great counter seating that lets you watch the chefs in action.

Wazee Supper Club - Lodo

We've spent many an afternoon/evening saddled up to the bar at WSC when we're in the mood for quality bar food and a beer (or 3). They always have a solid local & craft beer selection and they make a perfect jalapeño marg. The staff is on point and they have something on the menu to cure every craving. Husband adores their fish & chips and I have a bizarre soft spot for their Mile High Pizza (peanut butter, bacon & pickles) it's so weird and so good. Everybody loves their Frings so make sure to order a round.

Crock Spot - food truck

In the mood for a more laid back date night? Find the Crock Spot food truck and pull up a seat on the curb. They have an awesomely extensive build-your-own bowl menu of delicious slow cooked items and sauces (the cilantro lime rice and jalapeño shredded beef are insane and the balsamic gastrique is heavenly). BONUS: they post their weekly schedule here:

Cebiche - LoHi/32nd Ave

Cebiche seems to get overlooked and that's a crying shame because the food is worth stopping in for. We asked for menu recommendations and loved everything they helped us choose (try the Pescado a la Chorillana, Bistek a lo Pobre & Chilcano de Pescado) and the cebiche is amazing. I wish we could buy a bag of the crunchy corn kernels they leave on the table to munch on, delicious. The indoor atmosphere isn't the greatest but their patio makes up for it.
